designing detours

A post in the Create Your Style with Swarovski Elements community sparked some thoughts in regards to designing and how the best laid plans can sometime go awry.......

I personally enjoy this part of the creative process, I think I am going to do one thing with the lastest piece I am designing, a detour happens and a new creation emerges.

Truth is ......sometimes designs work, sometimes they don't.......either way I am good with it not turning out as I originally planned as long as I am happy with the end results of the piece. I think it is important for us to remember the journey and the love of designing as much as just deciding that "Project Sparkles" has to turn out exactly this way! Fantastic when that happens but let's be realistic, that just doesn't happen all the time.

Case in point: I had an inspiration necklace that I had designed on paper for a big project, thought (thought being the operative word) that it could be executed one way only to find out that it was absolutely not going to work (much mumbling and grumbling happened along the way I might add).....end result, I had to totally rework the necklace. Surprise! It actually turned out much better the new way as well as it was more wearable and had stronger execution for the overall necklace yet still retained the essence of the original design. Really unless I told you which piece that was and how it "should" have been, you would never know the difference, LOL! I have no doubt that each of my fellow ambassadors could tell you a similar story.

Recently, I was asked to design some pieces for a beading magazine. I was so delighted to have been asked, of course I had so many thoughts and ideas about what to design. Finally after much personal debate, decided what I was going to create and you know what......???? Almost none of the finished pieces that I sent in looked like what I originally planned to do ( which was fine for this particular project). The beautiful pieces morphed and created into stunning pieces that looked nothing like what I thought that they would. I liked that I was open to the changes and was pleased with the results!

Now truth be told, if the project needed to look a certain way then I would make that happen ( goes with the job, LOL!) but I like the freedom of designing when I am not locked into a certain type of design.

Sometimes we can unlock the creative juices just by being told we can only use a certain technique and need to create designs that fit into the technique vs a particular design. I had another recent project where I was asked to create several unique stringing projects using certain colors and themes ...... honestly, I don't do a lot of stringing these days more wire and mixed media projects. However, I can tell you that some of my recent favorite jewelry pieces (full of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS pearls & crystals of course!) that I wear quite a bit these days were created and inspired by that project request. Who knew that I would rediscover an old love!

I think it is nice to share our "real truths" about adventures in designing....takes some of the fear out of it especially for beginning designers. I personally do that in the classes that I teach, giving my students tips, tricks and things I have tried that didn't work and why it didn't work in addition to the ones that of course do work......I have also gotten lots of fantastic tips from my students in return as well!

Honestly, the process and planning does get easier and you can create exactly what you want to create when you need to but be open to the detours and where they can take you while designing! You might be surprised where you end up!

I am delighted to say that I have a couple of new jewelry designs that are in two of my favorite jewelry magazines at the moment.......one of my necklaces a cool vintage and gemstone mix is the December birthstone jewelry design featured in the current issue of Bead Style Magazine.

I also have a necklace in the new Bead Design Studio Magazine ( formerly Bead Unique Magazine). The fabulous editors there had asked me along with some other designers to participate in a chain challenge for the magazine. So happy to have been able to participate!!

Check out both of these fabulous magazines! So much inspiration and fabulous unique desigsn!

International Quilt Festival in Houston

Belle Armoire Magazine- Spring 2011

I am delighted to say that I have a couple of pieces in Belle Armoire Magazine for Spring 2011! I have loved this magazine for years. So inspiring.........and this issue is no exception!

To be a small part of it makes me smile!

One of my necklaces in the gallery is all wire wrap & Swarovski Elements crystals. Love! The other is a resin piece that I thought was going to look one way, took a detour and turned out to be something completely different than the original direction but isn't that just how the creative process goes sometimes? It is for me, I try not to get frustrated by the detours but embrace them and see where they lead. Many times it is a better path than where I thought it was going.........

New Spring 2011 Jewelry Affaire Magazine

So excited to say that I have several pieces of jewelry in the new Jewelry Affaire Magazine that is hitting newstands now! I love this magazine as well as its editor and staff! Delightful!

Here is a sneek peek at the new cover, love the earrings!

One of my featured projects in the magazine, Vintage Rose necklace below is created from some wonderful vintage vintage beads and pendant from my huge vintage stash of goodies in the studio and some sparkling Swarovski Elements crystals of course!

One of the things that I found with this necklace was that a clean & simple design was actually better compared to a busy, more complicated design. Sometimes, we can "over-design" so keep that in mind as will I when working on future jewelry projects.

I get so excited when the newest issue of a magazine that I love comes out and some of my jewelry is featured......it make for an extra-special sparkling day when it arrives and I can finally share with everyone! Can't wait to see all of the other projects in this issue of Jewelry Affaire!

One of the things that I love the most about being a SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Ambassador is not only my love of all things that sparkle, being a part of this amazingly talented group of Ambassadors but I love that when I get to teach, do a make & take, a demo that I get to meet so many amazing people that I have the opportunity to meet, talk about making something sparkling & beautiful and help spread the crystal love!

I have met some fantastic bead store owners and artists who just by their description of their stores or studio, I want to hop on a plane and rush there to see where they inspire others,

create and have studio time with them! So many amazing & super talented artists out there!!!

I love when I have the opportunity to talk to beaders and crystal lovers

who through the course of the conversation I realize that they have travelled from Australia, Canada, South America and Europe. I am touched that they are taking some of their precious time

to spend with me talking or taking a class. Special indeed!

I love how even with the crazy weather this year, that didn't stop anyone from wanting to learn a new technique and create something sparkling and beautiful!

So for as much as everyone loves to meet the Ambassadors at the showrooms, classes, demo's, make & take's and various other events.........we are delighted and thrilled to have the opportunity to meet you as well and share in the crystal love!

National Craft Month

Did you know that it is National Craft Month?

What fun to get in there and create something fabulous for yourself, a friend, a sister or your mom!

I encourage you to get in there and get crafty!

This is a necklace that I made recently, using some recycled fabric to create a beautiful flower that is the focal for the necklace then I added in the gemstones, Swarovski Elements crystals and Vintage Brass Chain.

Cool, fun and love the upcycled flower!

The little assistants LOVE to create their own jewelry (they do like their sparkles, LOL!)

as well as some fun baubles for their friends as well as creating door hangers,

beautiful & colorful drawings and more!

They even have their own craft box full of chenille stems, pom pom, foam cut outs, construction paper, scissors, crayons, markers, sticky gems and much more

(yes, lots of sparkly things are in their box in case you were wondering....)

What a great way to have encourage their creative thoughts and ideas!

Happy Sparkling Saturday From June

Little chilly here in Dallas today but been playing in the studio today with some wire crochet. Using a 22g wire in a beautiful antique copper color that I got from Parawire that I am loving and mixed some of my favorite SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS crystals into the pieces for that added bit of sparkle.

Bit harder to work with over all vs. using a 26-28g wire that I normally use for my wire crochet but liking the bolder look for the necklace that I am working on. Will share pictures when it is complete!

In the meantime, here are a few pictures of some other newer pieces that I have finished

Angel Tree

It's a small thing but happy to say that the little assistants each got an precious angel from the Salvation Army Angel Tree this year to help shop for and hopefully make their Christmas a little brighter. I tried to pick angels that were close in age so that the girls could relate a bit more as well as pick toys and clothes that they like in hopes of getting something nice for the precious angels that they will think is special and know that it was picked out especially with them in mind.

The little assistants are also drawing pictures to give them that we will frame as well as we are planning to include a couple of pieces of jewelry for them to add a little extra sparkle to their lives!

I am looking forward to wrapping them this weekend and delivering them.

I hope that we are able to make a couple of little girls Christmas's this year a little brighter as well as hopefully teaching the little assistants about how truly blessed they are and how good it feels to help others where we can! I do believe that it is all the little things that we each do each day that really can add up and create such an impact of goodness and much kindness especially when children are involved both in the giving and receiving.......don't you?

A Sparkling Good Time

So I just spent a few days with some of the most talented and amazing men & women you could ever hope to meet or gather in one room......The SWAROVKSI ELEMENTS Ambassdors! The Ambassadors were invited to the North American Swarovski Headquarters in Cranston, RI recently but before we invaded the offices quite a large group of us made a splash at fellow ambassador Debra Saucier's store The Bead & Wire Shop for a SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS Ambassador's Meet & Greet. What a sparkling turnout!!!! We had a blast with the customers as well as had some time to talk and enjoy being together! A huge thanks to Deb & her family for hosting all of us!!!!!

Mingling Sparkles and Inspiration!

Ok, so I LOVE them in a big way!

So to have the opportunity to head east and be able to spend time with my fellow ambassadors at the North American Headquarters for some training and sparkle time, well count me in!!!! YIPPEEE~~ I always love heading to Tucson each year to see all of these amazingly talented designers that I both adore and admire so to get the opportunity to see everyone twice in one year, just pinch me!!

CHA & CHA Super Show- Chicago

I love Chicago! So when asked to go there to do some make & take's at Craft and Hobbby Associations Super Show in Chicago, well, I was happy to go. Getting to see all the crafty goodness everywhere, meeingt new friends, talking with old friends, well, it doesn't get much better than that, does it? So here a small peek into CHA.........

Don't you love inspired looks? This one was pretty great at the I Love To Create booth! Love the feathers!!! Quite a sassy look, don't you think? Great inspiration for many things!

A few other things that I fell in love with at the show......I love handbags and aren't these just the cutest? What fun to create you own inspired style? I am inspired to try a few myself, what about you??

So much inspiration everywhere as well! I love how there really aren't many rules now so you can go, mix it up & create so many new, dynamic accessories, clothing, papercrafts, home decor and more!

Don't you love when you run into the Crafting Celebrities at CHA and CHA SuperShow? I do, so it was fun to see when I was starting to do my Make & Take, a gal asked spotted at my table my friend Julie McGuffee for a picture with her. She told Julie how much her kids love her show as well as her British accent! Cute, Cute!! Check Julie's blog out at Life in the Craft Lane, she is fabulous!!!

Ran into Lisa Pavelka at the Viva Decor booths. What a delight and joy to see her whenever, I get the chance. She is amazing, a woman of so many talents! The little assistants were so excited over the polymenr clay sock monkey charms that she gave them......now to make them little necklaces! LOL! Is there a better way to start a holiday weekend than with the Blue Angels flying over the bay, Cherry Festival about to start, friends, family, cookouts and lots of fabulous fireworks?

I don't think so.........it is the perfect way!

Seeing the Blue Angels is always a highlight for me since I was a little girl and to now be able to share that with our daughters is an absolute delight!!

Cherry Festival in Traverse City, MI is the kickoff and celebration of all that is cherry and for me, not much compares to a fabulous fresh cherry or cherry pie from

the World's Cherry Capital!

Amazing Lake Michigan sunsets, didn't get to see the Northern Lights on this vist but this sunset was pretty amazing....check out the rays.......it was like the Northern Lights but during sunset. Beautiful, the picture still doesn't do it justice!

Fireworks, again who doesn't like those?? The little assistants thought they were pretty fabulous this year as we got to see several great firework shows!!!

Again the pictures don't do the sparkling fireworks shows justice but well, had to share! Then of course at midnight, it was my birthday!! What a great way to start a special day! Friends, family, fireworks, cherry pie, amazing sunsets, sunny days on the beach......equals a perfect holiday weekend.

Spring Inspiration

Hi everyone! Been a little remiss lately in posting but that is all about to change! Lots happening around the Beach Haus Studio's so will be sharing bits & pieces of it in the coming weeks.......

Spring has definitely sprung down south! Recently, we got to visit the cutest little town called Gruene, TX. Adorable mills, right on the river (not far from San Antonio) and fabulous little shops full of all kinds of great gifts, clothes and baubles!I just loved this Ice Cream sign.......how can you not? We love ice cream in the Beach Household and the old charm of this sign made me stop and snap a picture or two! Yummmm. The Country Fresh Egg sign was a favorite as well.

Funny, I have learned through the years that you never know where inspiration is going strike and what beautiful intesting designs that you can come up just by getting out and about, taking your camera with you and just soak up all of the simple charms that surround all of us each day. Try it, you might be surprised at what you see that you didn't see before, colors, textures, layers and so much more.

Just wanted to share a few of my Bluebonnet pictures. I love Bluebonnets, no only because they are the Texas state flower but they are so happy and the blues just pop right out and grab you as you are passing them. They make me smile and inspire me!

Wow!!! Good friends, good times, great beads, great classes and much more!

Saw some amazing new innovations from Crystallized Swarovski Elements (really did you expect me to say anything else??LOL), despite how much I love my Crystallized Swarovski Elements, they really have some amazing new designs coming to all of us in the near future! Some pieces that I am truly chomping at the bits to get my hands on and create some new sparkling jewelry.....very exciting and very innovative! Looking forward to sharing more info in the near future. Their trend presentations are really like no other! Each piece is truly a piece of art......be still my sparkling heart!

Got to spend some time with all of my fellow ambassadors and I can truly say that I although I have found such kinship in some like Jamie North (love my Canadian friend and truly the best!) , Laura Timmons (talented, fashionable and a good Texas girl at heart...what is not to love!), Diane Whiting(my talented sparkle sister), Kristal Wick (just the cutest and yet amazingly, super talented), Linda Hartung ( this lady is so down to earth, amazing and gracious that I am in awe) ,

I took a class with Jamie.....if you ever have the chance to take her Oh So Gorgeous bracelet class, well....jump at the chance( pssstt.....she is teaching it at Bead & Button in June)! She is fabulous and the bracelet is beyond beautiful when finished, take a peek at the pic below!!

Course our guys ( Ben & Kevin) totally connected while we were getting beady & sparkly happy with all of the fabulous goodies that were everywhere in Tucson!My classes & Demo went great! We had tons of fun and everyone finished their Vintage Tassled Rose necklaces! Love when that happens!! See smiling faces.......

What a way to end an amazing week...even though to be honest, I was truly sick the whole week and was working on numerous projects yet I loved getting inspired by all of these amazing creative designers! So many new ideas and designs sparkling in my head....can't wait to show you what I am dreaming about these days!

Whirlwind

It's been a whirlwind of travel & activity already this year! So just wanted to share a few highlights as well as inspiration!

Here I am hanging with Shrek ( one of the little assistants favorite characters, by the way) at CHA in Anaheim. What fun it was to met the big green guy in person!

Check out this cool knitted snake....what inspiration at CHA!! He was just adorable!! I am not a knitter at all but he made me give it another thought or two.....hummmm.....

This necklace, although I apologize for the picture not being better, was designed by the amazing Lisa Pavelka, one of my fellow Crystallized Swarovski Elements Ambassadors. She is so inspiring & truly amazing. I don't believe there isn't anything that is can't do! Also got to see some other amabassadors who I adore at CHA- the lovely Kristal Wick, Diane Whiting & Lilian Chen!! Fabulous, talented & super sparkling ladies all of them!

This lovely lady is showing off her necklace that she made in my workshop at CHA! Beautiful!

Check out what the fabulous people at Vintaj came up with for their booth, it was full of inspiration & fabulous ideas! They did such a great job.....course I am not surprised at all!!!

Course these are just a few highlights but such fun in Anaheim despite all of the rain that was falling on California at the time! Loved getting to see old friends and making some new ones! Always an adventure but what an inspiring one with so much creative talent in one place!!

Time for new starts, new classes & new sparkles!

I will be kicking off the new year with a little bit of travel with stops at

the CHA Super Show in sunny Anaheim, CA

to teach a workshop & do a couple of make & takes January 22 and 23, 1020!

Then off to Tucson in February to be an instructor at the Create Your Style with Crystallized Swarovski Elements showroom. My class & demo are both on February 2, 2010. Come take a class, check out the demo and have some sparkling fun!

Vintage Tassled Rose Class in Tucson

I know that this will not come as a big surprise to most of you as you know how I feel about all things that sparkle & shine as well as my love for Crystallized Swarovski Elements. So it took me all of 2 seconds to respond with a resounding YES that I would be delighted to teach again at the Create Your Style Event in Tucson for 2010 when they invited me back this year to teach a class. Just tell me when & where and I am there!!!

on February 2, 2010!

This year, I am teaching a class called Vintage Tassled Rose in Tucson at the Create Your Style Showroom and would love to have you join me while we create a beautiful necklace I am sure that you will love when completed. We will create a necklace is full of modern vintage with a touch of old world romance and charm. Using various wire wrapping techniques, we will create an eye catching necklace that is full of beautiful crystal pearls and sparkling crystals with a tassled flair that you are sure to love for a lifetime.

Although the class is level is listed at intermediate, those that are beginners are certainly welcome to join in the fun as well!

Learning various techniques is always a good thing!

I know that I am looking forward to taking some classes myself. I love to be challenged and learn new techniques to use and adapt into my own designs. Don't you???

5328 Xilion Inspiration Design

You never know when or where inspiration will strike. For me, it was a combination of things, not just one specific moment.

First, I heard that Crystallized Swarovski Elements was phasing out one of my favorite crystals the 5301 Bicone and was replacing it with the new 5328 Xilion.

To say that I was curious as to why they would bringing out a new element would be an understatment but I have to say I LOVE the new & improved crystal which is still in my favorite bicone shape but has more facets to it and since I love wirework the old 5301 would sometimes be a little crunchy at the edges and the new 5328 Xilion was smooth and fabulous. I think, no I know, that I am in serious like with this new crystal!

Course I love any Crystallized Swarovski Element so I am a bit of an easy sell but when it sparkles more and is actually easier to use in a variety of designs then it is a huge win in my book!

So, I was challenged as a Create Your Style with Crystallized Swarovski Elements Ambassador to come up with a inspirational design and try out the new 5328 Xilion crystal........I thought, I pondered.......I wanted to do something that was sometime fun, yet would make a statement of sorts.

I have been working on improving my Adobe Illustrator skill set as I have been working as a Jewelry Product Designer in addition to my normal wife, mom, jewelry designer & Create Your Style Ambassador life, designing components (pendants, connectors, beads, clasps, etc....) so I thought it would be natural to design my piece using some of my new learnings with Illustrator.

Course sometimes what is designed on paper is well.....very different in how it looks when you actually have to make it, right???? Add to it that I love creating jewelry that looks relatively simple to create but is stilll a bit more complicated than it first appears. But here it is!

I was pleasantly surprised not only with the new crystal but also with how the design came out and looked pretty darn close to my drawing.

This necklace was fun to create and definitely makes statement when worn! I hope that you love it and are inspired to try the new 5328 Xillon crystal and create a statement of your own!

I'm Back.....

I'm back....no really!!!! It has been a whirlwind spring and so far summer.......lots of changes but still working on new designs, just have to get them uploaded to the site, etc..... Promise to share some here soon!!!

Have lots to tell and catch up on but most will have to wait till later but one thing I am excited about is that I am happy to report that I will be back at the Crystallized Swarovski Elements- Create Your Style Showroom in Tucson, AZ this coming February to teach a fabulous class called Vintage Tassled Rose Necklace! It will be full of yummy Crystallized Swarovski Elements pearls, vintage brass chain and of course those sparkling Crystallized Swarovski Elements crystals. Can't wait to share pictures with you soon!

Working, Working & Celebrating

Let's get to the celebrating first don't you think.......

First off, Happy Earth Day a day late. Course is there ever a time to not celebrate Mother Earth and all of the beautiful things that we sometime take for granted to be thankful for everyday? Everyday should be Earth Day, don't you think?

Second, well.....I finally got my official Create Your Style™Crystallized™-Swarovski Elements Ambassador bag filled with lots of fabulous goodies including my official sparkling certificate and much more! Included was the book "Design Expressions From Brail & Russia" that featured some amazing designs from several of my fellow ambassadors
Margot Potter, Fernando DaSilva and Lisa Pavelka!So excited about this new role that I am sparkling here & there and everywhere these days.......Course how can you not love to sparkle?

So now on to the working.........been in the studio creating lots of new goodies,some I will be posting shortly and others well......I just can't yet because they are for some magazine submissions as well as possibilities for classes for 2010 that I just can't share until given the good word, ya know? But when the time is right, I promise I will share! Course, I will let you in on a little secret......they are LOTS of Crystallized™ Swarovski Elements in all of my designs!! Bet you are surprised by that admission! Course those of you who know me well......well, you already know how much I love my sparkles!

I have also been hard at work on our new collection of the June Beach Collection of jewelry
and it will be rolling out very very soon to stores. If you are interested in carrying the line in your fabulous store just contact us and we can get you some information. Frozen Bay

I have to say one of the things that I love about Northern Michigan is the peace and serenity of when we are here in the winter and you see the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan
and its bays frozen over with snow and ice.
Being from the south originally, well this just isn't a site
that you normally see down there, LOL!!!

Little assistant #1 and hubby were out there yesterday shooting video, pictures, snowshoeing and having such a good time........just sweet, beautiful and inspiring don't you think?

So I am up early this morning, working in the UpNorth studio on some new ideas and designs that were dancing through my head last night like the sugar plums at Christmas.......watching the new day start and seeing all the frozen wonder on the bay.........I am always at some of my most creative up here seeing Mother Nature's handiwork.

Who knows what I will come up with today before heading back to the Muth studio with the little assistants.

hummm, you know when you have those days that you wake up, it's sunny, happy (not too cold, LOL), you get good emails and inspiration just hits you in a really good way? So I am trying to get back in the groove of things and to start off my to-do list today I am posting some new jewelry that I finally got photographed and ready to put on the website and blog! YIPPEE!
I love this double strand cool necklace! Full of wood coco beads, freshwater pearls & Crystallized Swarovski elements crystals it is perfect to go with everything! Don't you agree!

Just Beachy is one of a kind and my return to my roots with our authentic beach glass (or some people love to call it sea glass) jewelry. Sparkling Party in Tucson

Our last night in Tucson was just a blast....the annual Crystallized Swarovski Elements party was held in the courtyard in the new location for the showroom & classes this year. So we had a beautiful, perfect evening under the Tucson stars with music, drinks,friends & fun....who can ask for much more!

At the party & under the Tucson Sky....love the lighting & catus! Hubby took this picture.......cool isn't it?

The classes and demos went well. Here I am getting ready for my students.....

Here I am working hard at the Demo booth in the Crystallized Swarovski Elements Showroom showing how to make my Sparkling Crystal Watch Bracelet!

My new friend the talented, Jamie North from Canada! Her earring demo followed mine at the showroom.....see all those sparkles behind us....each one was a fabulous Crytallized Swarovski Elements crystal.....They were fabulous in person!

One of the best things of the week was that I was invited along with 19 other designers to become an ambassador for Crystallized Swarovski Elements.........I am beyond honored to say the least!!! I will let you know more about that later but I am doing a sparkling crystal dance.

Isn't this just a sparkling laptop......it was in the showroom in Tucson!

I met some other instuctors that to just say that they are talented is not doing them justice at all! They are some of the most amazing, super talented ladies and gentlemen that I have had the pleasure to know.......I feel so inspired just being around them! One of the gals that I met was Jamie North. She is FABULOUS! Wait till you have a chance to take a peek at some of her jewelry....amazing! You have to check out her Glitz N Kitz Website if you are looking for some new design ideas and yes, she sells both kits & finished jewelry.

Also Deb Simon......the gal has done it all! Fabulous and she has a new book out. We were teaching classes side by side.

One of the instuctors that is so nice, sweet and super talented is Valeen Hirata. She is just adorable and what a pleasure to meet her!

Leslee Frumin is a bead & metal artists that is just an amazing instuctor......She lives in California but originally lived in Michigan so we of course hit it! Truly a wonderful lady and very talented . She has been teaching for many years. I am thinking I will need to check out one of her classes in the near future!

There were so many more wonderfully talented instuctors there and several that I didn't get to meet but had hoped to so maybe next time!

Hanging out in Tucson!

Well, for a good old southern gal like myself who now lives in the cold, snowy area known as Michigan to say that I am back in the sun again is a happy day for me!! The weather here in Tucson has been fabulous, sunny & hot ....just like I love it!

Completed my class and my showroom demonstration yesterday for Crystallized Swarovski Elements- Create Your Style workshops. What fun it was! I will post pictures I promise shortly that hubby took for me while I was "working", LOL!! Have to get the pictures uploaded into my computer so that I can post them for you. I truly feel so honored that they loved one of my designs enough to allow me to teach it to some students. I had the best students by the way, these women were rocking the design in a big way and they all loved the fact that it was copper! Go figure......

Off to check out some of the goodies at some of the other shows today......will post later on those finds as well......

Also, looking forward to meeting some guys & gals who I have long admired are such an inspiration to me while I am in Tucson. I will keep you posted on that as well!

This is a big day for all American's.....the Inaguration of a new President! Honestly, I am such a history buff that I love this day for so many reasons.....all the history beginning, all the history revisted as well as all the hope for change and well.... hope. After all, 2008 was a trying year for everyone and 2009 has started off a bit rough for many as well with so much bad news around the world. We all need a little hope and something great to celebrate.

So to this day of new beginnings.....I wish our new President godspeed and much success. He has much to live up to on so many fronts but to be in a position to give everyone and not just those of us that live in the beautiful United States of America such a positive feeling of hope and change is well a nice feeling, don't you agree?

I am off to watch the festivities, parade, the address and of course the balls to see what everyone is wearing, LOL!!! Inspiration comes from everywhere!

I know it seems like it has been a while since I posted and your right it has! We have had a major election, I have been on jury duty, doing shows, making news things for the shows & the site, shipping orders and of course being mom to the cutest Little Assistants ever!

Well, they are calling for our first snow flurries of the season today & tomorrow.......UGH! Being a southern gal I still can't quite get used to hearing the word snow especially before Halloween & Thanksgiving, not that it will stick to the ground or anything like that but still!

It's a pumpkin world

You know it is fall when there are fabulous, orange pumpkins everywhere!! Apple Cider, fresh baked doughnuts, colorful fall leaves, crisp cool air, football games in full swing and voila......it's fall!!!! In Michigan we love this time of the year, it is nice to be able to celebrate all of the seasons, don't you think?

Ever have one of those days?

Ever have one of those days where you have tons to do but for some reason it seems that nothing really gets quite done.......well.....that was yesterday! Can you say UGH with me? UGH!!!!!! The only major thing that I seem to have accomplished was updating the BHD blog here as well as playing taxi for Little Assistant #1 yesterday for preschool, little eagles & tap class. In reality I got a couple of other things done but not near what I needed to do.......so today is my big kick it in gear day so that we can get packed up, not forget anything & cruise to Virginia as soon as LA#1 gets out of school in the morning.

We have the cutest neighbor, a older gentleman named Mr. Cooper who is always ( I really do mean always) in his garden, waving to everyone as they go by and has the best garden around.........he put out his pumpkins yesterday to sell for much too cheap of a price ( $.50- $1.50 a pumpkin) if you ask me but he does it for the love & joy of it
much to the delight of everyone around.

Fancy Nancy, Preschool & Snowmen

Been a busy few weeks so forgive me for being gone for a bit......

Little Assistant #1 had a big Fancy Nancy birthday party, can we say TOO CUTE again!! Little girls dressed in tutu's & princess dresses flying around the yard, in swings, riding the jeep & trikes, etc...around the driveway.....cute, funny, perfect day!Simply beautful, don't you agree?

Back to Beach Haus Designs business, leaving on Wednesday for Virginia for a golf tournament & a show. So been working on lots of yummy goodies, lots of one of a kinds, etc.....can't wait to get out there & see everyone. I just love hearing what our customers love & what they are looking for.........gets my creative juices flowing.

Just finished the new Southern Lady ad for Nov/Dec which is full of our Polka Dotted Snowman neckace......so very cute!
Also, got our rooms booked for Tucson for February.....can you believe I am thinking that far ahead??? Not me but very excited about heading out there this coming year.......

Have some other things brewing but one day at a time they say, right????

Thursday, already! Whew too much to do and never enough time to do it all.....
my wonderful parents are due in today from down south
so the little assistants are beyond excited (me too, to be honest!!)

Ok, so on to the main attraction.....what's new, you ask??? A couple of things....Well, other than getting lots of exclusive goodies ready for our upcoming shows in St Petersburg, Florida in October and Occoquan, VA at the end of September we have been working on the new June Beach Collection catalog for our wonderful wholesale customers, the new ad for Southern Lady Magazine and much more.......YIPPEE! ( I will show you some of those sneek peeks next week, promise!)
This necklace is fun yet a good reminder for all of us not to forget our dreams...don't you agree???? I love the turquoise, sterling silver & swarovski crystals.This is swirly girl! A personal favorite of mine ( yes, I really do have my absolute fav's out of the collection) This necklace is a bit longer than the usual 18", handblown glass bead makes it one of a kind and I love the cool swirly sort of organic shaped sterling drop. One of the things that we do at Beach Haus Designs is bridal & bridal party jewelry! Bay Harbor

It was a fabulous weekend & just beautiful weather although we did get a little rain on Friday but that turned out to be ok too...... Great artists, show by shores of Lake Michigan and an adorable village......not bad right? Right! We had a great time as usual and it is always wonderful to see our customers that have been wearing Beach Haus Designs jewelry for years now.
Just a couple of photos from the booth........it was a bit windy due to being near the water .
Sorry to have not posted much lately but with vacation and working on lots of new pieces I will have tons to show you shortly!!! Hang in there with me.....promise, lots of goodies to come!!!

We are also getting ready to head to Virginia for the show in Occoquan in September then we are off to Florida in October for Angels After Dark..........going to be a busy busy fall again.

New Beach Glass

As we all know the big buzzword these days is "Green" & here are Beach Haus Designs we try to do our part too with recycling packaging, beads ( I LOVE anything vintage & have been collecting vintage jewelry & accessories since I was 10 years old!), chains, etc.....sometimes I get so attached to certain pieces that I really feel this need for the piece to get a home with someone who will treasure the jewelry & components in it as much as I do.

Well, one of the other things we do here and is one of our founding designs is our beautiful one of a kind, authentic Beach Glass ( course some people refer to it as Sea Glass as well but being that we are Beach Haus Designs we stick with Beach Glass, LOL).
I have not done as much of our beautiful Beach Glass lately for several reasons but I am happy to say that it is back & here are some of our authentic Lake Michigan beach glass designs......get them while you can as they are all one of a kind & when they are gone....well, you know the drill, their gone!

I love the story behind so many of the colors that you find....cobalt blue beach glass is often from old Noxema jars, Lavender used to be white but during the wars WWI & II they took out a product out of the glass that turned it white that was needed for the war effort and the new chemical over time turned white glass lavender........rare.
There are reds, browns ( old root beer & beer bottles), green (7 -up bottles) and of course white & clear ( soda bottles, etc) I have a fabulous piece of large beach glass that still have the writing on it from the soda bottle, too fun!!!We have done and are always happy to do custom work for our customers using their own beach glass that they found on a favorite vacation, etc.......contact us at customerservice@beachhausdesigns.com for more information about custom work.

Happy Birthday!

Sorry it has taken me a bit to post here.....but well not only were we celebrating the 4th of July but my birthday was the 5th! SO lots happening here & I will be sharing quite a bit in the next few posts as well......Little Assistant #1 & I ran our first 2k race on the 4th. What fun it was to share that with her plus I think it has inspired me to get training for a 5k race of my own in the near future. Funny how little things like that can just get you moving in a new direction, isn't it???Here is the starting line...quite a few people gathered for race day! We were just happy not to finish last!!!! YIPPEE! There was a 20K, 10K, 5K & the 2K that were run that day in Frankenmuth for the Volkslaufe.

My parents were in from the south for a week long visit & Little Assistant #2 who was clapping on the sidelines as we header toward our big finish!!!

What a great way to spend a holiday and a good start to a birthday........

The Girls Are Back

Well, after a nice wonderful weekend full of laughs, sun and much Diva'ing....we are back to our real lives. What a fun time my girlfriends& I had.......I couldn't have asked for three better friends to have spent a beautiful girls weekend with!

I love this little winery......Peninsula Cellars. Their tasting room used to be an old school house and then it was an art studio of some friends of DH's family before becoming part of the winery......they even use chalkboards inside to write "I will not drink bad wine", awards, promotions, etc.....so cute!

This is Diva S wearing our Pink Lemonade necklace isn't it just too cute on her! Course she is adorable and yes I am completely biased, LOL!!
Diva Z was loading up on some of her new favorite's!!!

2 Lads winery is just fantastic and has hands down the BEST view from a tasting room with beautiful views of Lake Michigan from every angle......they are the newest winery on the peninsula these days and are rapidly becoming known for their sparkling wines and reds! Here is the gang! Diva K, Diva Z, Diva S & Diva J course we are all wearing some cute new Beach Haus Designs jewelry while we were doing our sampling & food pairings.......honestly there was some amazing food samplings like an artichoke spread that was out of this world from Bower's Harbor Inn ( Ben & I got engaged at this fabulous restaurant)

Kim getting off the phone with her adorable little girls.......She is the owner of Girl Party TuTu's that I have told you about in the past!! Nice to put faces & names together isn't it??? LOL!!

Can't tell we are having a good time , can you???

Chateau Chantal was our last stop for the evening before heading back to the cottage for a beach fire. Chateau Chantal has the best view of a sunset and the whole setting is just beautiful so it was fitting that we ended our Diva's tour here.
The rest of our weekend was spent sitting on the beach, the deck, checking out some great little restaurants ( discovered that I liked baked potato pizza, who knew!) and we got in a little shopping and even went to a Daylily & Iris Farm that Diva K fell in love with.......

All in all it was fabulous, relaxing & just what we all needed and now we are looking forward to our next adventure in the fall as well as doing "Diva's Uncorked" on Old Mission again next year!

This weekend is going to be a bit of a re-charge as I am heading UpNorth with some girlfriends for a fun girls weekend! YIPPEE! Don't you think we all need one of those? New Designs Part II

Been a busy week here at the Beach studios! Lots of thing bubbling but some that I can't share although I will share some new designs that are HOT off the press.....would love to hear your thoughts........I love feedback on designs!

So I am loving this adorable necklace! Full of color and it just makes me smile looking at it!

This is a newer style that we have been doing, a bit more vintage in its feel.....I love this & think it is a great transition necklace for the seasons as well as a great throw it with a tank & jeans, off you go you gorgeous gal!

White Turquoise is one of my new favorite stones and here it is in a classic, simple yet Fab necklace! Love the sterling & wood pendant, don't you?

One of our new bridesmaid & special occasion designs. Full of pink & hot pink Swarovski crystals....simple yet plenty of sparkle!

Course those of you who know me well know that I LOVE vintage and this necklace is full of vintage flowers & pearls but updated to look at bit modern & fun with Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls & sterling silver.Let's do the twist! So a little throwback there for you but isn't this necklace fun! The pendant is Murano glass done in royal, green & red......we added beautiful sterling silver, lapis, turquoise & of course our favorite Swarovski crystals!!! Can you believe that summer is actually here!??!!! I can't but I am SO happy as I love it so much......course Spring is I think my favorite season as I love watching the flowers bloom & the new leaves appear on the trees...such an inspiring rebirth every year.

I always love seeing the American flags everywhere on Memorial Day, it makes me smile to see our beautiful flag and know that everyone is remembering our servicemen & women!

Course Memorial Day is like our official kick-off for Summer too.......I thought I would share some more Northern Michigan pics that bring some smiles to my face and hopefully yours. This is one of the first sailboats on the water right outside the cottage........I love seeing the sailboats, so graceful, quiet and just gliding through the water like it was on glass. A geat way to spend a leisurely day, don't you think?

I love this little barn & how it has been painted with the chickens! Adorable....I can't help but smile everytime I drive past it. Could you???

One of our favorite cherry & fruit stands in Old Mission! They have maple syrup out right now but soon there will be quarts of fresh yummy cherries. I can't wait!!!!

This is the roof of a barn on the peninsula that they redid last year....Love the colorful stripes. I always know I am almost to the cottage when I see the colors of the roof when I come over the hilltop, off to the left as you are driving you can see the West Bay of Lake Michigan and cherry trees everywhere! Beautiful sight.......

Stunning Sunsets for Memorial Day Weekend

It seems as though Mother Nature is quite the artist this weekend.......at least here in Northern Michigan! The sunsets since we got to the UpNorth studio have been well beyond beautiful.

I am not sure sometime if we treasure our sunsets so much here in Michigan due to the fact that our winters are so long and we are indoors so much but I do know that we love them! To watch Mother Nature use her paint brush and paint the sky in subtle shade of blues, grays, burnt umbers & sienna only to then as the sun actually sets move on to vibrant shades of reds, oranges & purples and then finally to soft shades of pinks, peaches & lavenders all for our pleasure.

Well it's no wonder we love to sit on the beach at sunset roasting marshmallows & hot dogs....

Amazing how most of these pictures that I took are all in one evening isn't it? I only hope that my pictures are able to do justice to the sunsets of the last 2 nights here at the UpNorth Studio

I love this picture from last night.....the little assistants were sound asleep, everything was quiet and the sky changed colors again so I ran down to take this final shot last night of the sky......no Northern Lights yet but we have a whole summer to look forward to watching the colorful sunsets and then see if we get blessed with a peek at the amazing Northern Lights....

A Shower & A Baby

Well the last week has been a bit exciting! I was invited to a beautiful baby shower for a very dear girlfriend who is like a sister to us. The little assistants call her Aunt Krissy. The shower was absolutely stunning with pink, pink & more pink everywhere you looked! Pink roses, pink peonies, pink hydrangeas, pink cupcakes, pink drinks, well....you get the picture!

This is one of the place settings right before we sat down to eat an amazing herbed chicken salad! Fabulous!! Little Assistant #1 wanted to skip lunch & go straight to the cupcakes!! No surprise there....LOL!

This is our lovely Aunt Krissy & her mom with Little Assistant #2. The shower was beautiful, she was beautiful, sunny spring day here in Michigan despite reports of rain and she got some amazing gifts including a Tiffany child's china set that was just too cute for words!
The little assistants gave the new baby girl to be a pink, purple & white tutu in hopes that they will be able to teach her to dance soon! I didn't have the heart to tell them it was going to be a bit before that happens.........

For dessert they had this adorable cake that just literally took the cake....so cute you didn't want to cut it at all ( course they did)! The cake was filled with fresh raspberries, blackberry's and more with buttercream & whipped cream. My mouth is just watering thinking about it again!

Here is the cake! Don't you love the Teddy Bear, the pillows, the rattler says I love Dad and the Bib says I love Mom........Love the pink fondant coverlet, don't you? Course the lily's of the valley smelled almost as good as the cake itself.

Krissy gave the eight fabulous ladies that hosted the shower each a Beach Haus Designs necklace! They each got to pick from an assortment and then if was boxed & wrapped up for them as a thank you for all of their hard & loving work! A couple of the gals loved their necklaces so much they put them on right then & modeled for everyone! Krissy also gifted the little hostesses with Beach Princess Jewelry. They loved their little necklaces full of sparkling crowns, bunnies, hearts & bumble bees!

It was a beautiful day.
Then to our surprise......2 days later Aunt Krissy was in the hospital having her baby girl! She was due in 3 weeks......All is well with everyone and Baby Alexandra is just a stunning little girl with two very happy parents! Congrats to the new family!!!

Asian Inspired

There is a new adorable store that is opening in the town that I went to college and it is all Asian Inspired that we are going to be doing some jewelry for and although that isn't a style that I do on a regular basis it has been fun. I have done some Asian Inspired designs in the past but to be able to do a collection of them is like being inspired all over when you get do something different than your norm, well that is it......fun, fun, fun!
So thought I would share a few of the pieces that we have created so far.........course they are on the website as well if you want to buy one for yourself or for a present for someone special!!!

Scenes from the Beach Haus Designs Studio UpNorth

I get very inspired when we head UpNorth to the cottage & the Beach Haus Designs UpNorth studio and this past two weekends have been no exception! The weather has been fabulous, beautiful sunsets, little assistants playing in the sand & water. Although coming from this true Southern gal, the water is never as warm as I like it but for those that grow up here the chill from the water is absolutely perfect in their world.......we were barely able to keep Little Assistant #1 out of the water even though it ws FREEZING! She thought it was fabulous & wanted to actually go swimming.....thank goodness summer is coming soon!

This coming weekend is Blossom Days on Old Mission and this past weekend was just a stunning sea of cherry blossoms everywhere you looked! White & Pink flowers everywhere you looked in Old Mission and to think shortly all those little blossoms will be juicy red cherries that we will be buying by the boxes at the cute little roadside stands. I have my favorite stands of course......one has the sweetest little couple that you have ever seen, now have all of our family buying from them and they have the BEST cherries you can find on the peninsula! Honest!!!

All the wineries will be open this weekend for Blossom Days and will be doing special barrel tastings, etc with the winemakers. It is such a great weekend to be in Traverse City, Cherry Capital of the World! We have had both of the Little Assistants christening weekends during Blossom Days so that all of our friends & family could experience this fabulous time UpNorth! If you ever have the chance to go during this time, just do it! You won't be disappointed!!!

Simply Beautiful........as you are driving you can see East & West Bay of Lake Michigan with all these beautiful blossoms everywhere....

The cherry farmers work is just about to start.........Our neighbors UpNorth have some orchards and boy do they work hard so that everyone can enjoy the cherries as well as those in our ice cream and so much more that we realize.......

Ok, so I have a little remiss in getting some new Beach Haus Designs jewelry loaded onto the blog but in the last few days it is finally a reality!

I love this necklace, it is called Tyra and is just soft and pretty yet still full of drama, don't you think? It is one of a kind and so when it is gone, it will be gone! Love the opalscent teardrops & the chalcedony pendant!

Here is another one of my current fav's! Violet is just beautiful....full of amethyst and tiger eye course you know me I just have to throw in some Swarovski crystals for kicks! Stunning!!!!

Back From The Windy City!

So I was late with the other post but here is a quick recap of our trip to the Windy City!

Well, wouldn't you know it.........it SNOWED while I was in Chicago!!!!!!! What is up with Spring this year. Course then Sunday the day we left was gorgeous and sunny. Just perfect......

You would not believe how windy it was when I took this picture!!! I could barely stand!

Sunday, we met up with DH's old roommate and had lunch with him at a fabulous restaurant overlooking Michigan Ave. I can't wait to go back there......The Grand Lux restaurant.....definitely head there if you are in the city! Faux painting everywhere, very french in feel with wrought iron banisters, Murano glass lights, colorful fun banquettes, etc.......This place was rocking though they were SO busy!

We checked out the American Girl store there & boy are we going to be in trouble in a few years. Course Little assistant #1 already has her first American girl doll courtsey of our neice & nephew. They sent her Itty Bitty Baby for Christmas! This time in the store though all she wanted was lip gloss, can you believe it!!! DH was relived to have gotten out of there for under $5!!

Realized how much I really do miss the city & am already busy planning a summer trip over tgo to Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo & Much more!!

So back to reality this week, have tons to do.....so better get busy.At least it looks & feels like spring here today in Michigan! My tulips are coming up and I see all the buds on the trees........sigh!

Chicago Bound

Well, we are off to Chicago to visit family, friends, some stores & doing some sightseeing!!! We are hopping on a train to head to the Windy City. Little Assistant #1 is SO excited about the train ride she can't stand it.........should be fun since we normally drive or fly since Chicago isn't that far from us. Can't wait to take the little assistants for a day off to Shedd's Aquarium & to the top of the John Hancock building!

This should be a wonderful weekend especially since I spent tons of time yesterday trying to find a hotel downtown that wasn't a complete fortune, LOL!! I think there are 3+ conventions happening this weekend so there are not a lot of rooms left in the city. But the travel agent in me prevailed and found us a fabulous hotel right in the middle of the Magnificent Mile perfect for everything that we have planned to do. Ben was very impressed! LOL!!! The hotel that we both love the Palmer House was available but the pool is closed so....no dice on this trip. Hopefully next time. I will post more about our trip when I get back. Keeping our fingers & toes crossed that the weather holds out for us!

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Ben's old roommate & college fraternity buddy as well as some family that lives in Chicagoland and of course checking out some the great boutiques in Bucktown as well as a few other neighborhoods. I can't wait to get over to Rush and check out what new restaurants that have popped up since I was there last......I have a couple of fav's that I love to visit.

I know, it's not down south where its already warm but it is Chicago. Can't tell I love this city can you? I would live there in a heartbeat, honestly! I lived there for about 3 months in a downtown apartment while I was training with a great company that I worked for some time back and really fell for the city in a big way. I just don't get over there as often as I would like, although maybe that will change in the future!

So this is what it has looked like outside the UpNorth Beach Studio's for the last several months....snowy, icy, beautiful but honestly
this Southern girl is ready for some major sunshine!!!!

I get very inspired when I am at the cottage UpNorth. Peaceful, quiet, nature all around, everything is back to basics and the simple things in life........how can you not be inspired by that.

I love how the snow & ice form on the beautiful blue/green waters on Lake Michigan's West Bay........Looks almost like frosting on a cake, don't you think?

Back to the prsent though..........We had a great weekend UpNorth and just loved being by the water, watching the swans in front of the cottage, seeing the last bit of snow melt away which means that summer is finally getting near. Ben is so excited that he will be back on his beloved sailboat very soon!!!
Soon we will have beach fires, sailing the day away, drives through the Michigan wine country, cherry blossoms ( Traverse City is the Cherry Capital of the World), eating cherries by the pound, looking for the Northern Lights as well as enjoying the sparkling stars that light up the sky at night.......
can't tell that I am dreaming of summer can you?

Well, at least in the meantime I got on the beach with the sand in my toes to take some new shots of some of my current favorite jewelry! This is one of my fav's! Black & White with twisted sterling silver........You can wear this with anything!!! Fabulous yet classic.

Been Too Long

Whew! Just realized it has been much, much too long since I posted here! We have been really busy here at the Beach Studios with both Beach Haus Designs & The June Beach Collection......ok, ok, so we have been really busy with the new June Beach Collection to be totally honest.

Confetti Necklace

So here is a run down of what is happening at the Beach.......we now have 9 sales reps for our new line-The June Beach Collection. YIPPPEEE!!! We have started on Collection II for the June Beach Collection and already as well as a special limited edition collection that we are doing for the summer! Can't wait! Also, working on a mini Beach Haus Designs catalog finally after being asked for years from our customers for one.......we'll let you know when it is done.

We just added a new fabulous store down in Florida, Julie's of Naples to our roster of sparkling stores that are carrying our collections. Looking forward to getting know Julie, her fabulous store & customers even better in the months ahead!

Ally at Keylime Clothing on Sanibel has been just rocking selling both Beach Haus Designs & the June Beach Collection. Ally is such a big cheerleader of ours & we Love her. No idea what we would do without her. We just designed a special piece for a silent auction that she is the chairperson for that is raising money for some wonderful organizations in the Fort Meyers area! She is such the mover & shaker!

Christy at the Black Swan is another of our fabulous stores and she is just dynamite! Such fabulous taste, wish I could buy all of the beautiful clothes that she buys for her store. Christy is one of our oldest & dearest customers. She has been selling Beach Haus Designs for over 5 years now! We are going to have to celebrate with a big trunk show party this year! What fun that will be for her, us and all of our loyal Black Swan customers! She is such a gem!

Lots of Goodies From Tucson

So Tucson was warm, sunny, the resort that we always stay at & love was under renovations so I am sure it will be fabulous again on our next trip out .....

However, despite all of that I did find lots of goodies that I can't wait to turn into something fabulous for the Beach Haus Designs line & the new June Beach Collection!!!

GLW was great & huge as usual. Manning House had a couple of booths that I just drooled over & bought some wonderful artisan pieces. Love helping to support other artist especially when they have such beautiful designs & quality.......AGTA of course is fabulous! My better pearl supplier there had some of the most amazing pearls......my favorite this year is without a doubt the chocolate pearls. Ben thought I was just dreaming about chocolate until he saw them and agreed that they were fabulous! Course the prices on them were something too, LOL!!!! I have a couple of thoughts on what I am going to mix them with...........

Ok so back to some of the other goodies I found........lots of black coral in fun shapes, some interesting crystals that I got a smattering of (those of you who know me well, know I have a love affair with Swarovski so this was a big deal to buy these). They look MUCH better in person than they are showing up in my quick pics.......isn't that always the case though!
Also found some great new agate, new fun colors of turquoise that I am SO excited about I can't stand it and of course mother of pearl which I love in every shape, size, color, etc...........

Overall, a good trip. Checked out a few new shows that I had never been too and course my good ole standby. Just wish I could have made it to Swarovski's in time but due to a little birthday that we had the day before it wasn't possible this year.....maybe next year. Beadalon had some new really cool products that I am anxious to try as well as some cool enameled toggles that are too cool for words........

Starting looking for lots of new goodies to start showing up at the shows, stores & website soon as I get busy in the studio with all the other wonderful things that I found at the show that I am not showing you yet!!!!

Girl Party & TuTu Heaven

Ok, so I will post shortly about all the goodies that I found in Tucson as well as many others things including my littlest assistant's first birthday!!

But.....I have to toot the horn of a dear friend that I adore that has started her new business creating adorable tutu's.

Kim is well, I am happy to say just fabulous designing gal! She is funny, smart and the mom of two adorable little girls who happily are close in age to my two little assistants so they get together & have what they call Girl Parties with lots of giggles & twirls thrown in for good measure! Hence, Girl Party Tutu's!

My oldest daughter LOVES these tutu's and has been more than pleased to be a guinea pig for Kim's wonderful fluffy tutu's.........The cutie above is her #2 assistant!!! Adorable isn't she? Course I am totally biased! You should see 4 little girls all in fluffy tutu's tearing through the studio.......too cute for words!

First Days of Skiing...

So a bit of personal fun....Lauren learned to ski this past weekend! YIPPEEE....you see this is huge for a southern girl like myself. Since we didn't have snow and didn't really make trips out to Colorado during the winter months ( my mom is not big on the cold at all, actually my dad too, LOL!) so none of the three girls in my family ever learned. I took my first ski lesson in my 20's and I can tell you that I was terrified learning how to snow plow down the hills of Colorado although I have to admit I sorta of liked it despite being scared silly!!!!

So move forward now and I am determined that my two little assistants will both learn to ski so that they will love it and be able to enjoy winter so much more......course it doesn't help that we are driving distance to quite a few ski resorts!

Not sure who OOOh'd & Awwwww'd the most...me or Ben but we certainly did our share of taking pictures of our snow bunny getting on the lifts and coming down the bunny hill. We signed her up for a lesson & then found out that they don't want the parents anywhere near so that the child can focus and learn with the instructor. Smart move!!!!

It was lightly snowing and was just beautiful......Sydney loved playing in the snow for the first time. Such a good day!

Hearts for Everyone!

Ok, so I am already in the mood for Valentines Day! I know, I know.....it is a voting day, a snowy day (cold one too, especially for this southern gal, LOL), a work day, etc.....but at least in the studio I have been able to indulge in some warmth, wonderful coffee and some time to work on some amazing one of a kind pieces that are truly made with love.

Love this necklace called Oh Cameo! Full of Copper, Hematite & lots of sparkling Swarovski crystals. This necklace is for the romantic in all of us......

This is one of my favorites!!! A handblown glass hear in black with white polka dots, beautiful pink roses and green leaves. We then set it off with black onyx & pink & green swarovski crystals......Perfect for that extra special person in your life!

Aren't these just some fun sterling heart earrings for that gal that likes her hearts just a little more artsy.........All sterling silver, freshwater pearls and sparkling swarovski crystals.....LOVE!!!

I am just in love with this lovely set. The handblown glass heart & beads are in a beautiful periwinkle and have an airy look when you see it in person, then add the sweet blue & pink little roses with green leaves. We have combined it with periwinkle & pink freshwater pearls and of course, Swarovski crystals!

If you happen to live in Florida or be visiting in the near future we are running a wonderful trunk show at one of our fabulous Beach Haus Designs retailers, Keylime Clothing Company on beautiful Sanibel Island.......you can go do a little shelling and stop by to see Ally and check out her great selection of apparel, adorable shoes plus she has one of the largest assortments of Vera Bradley on the island and of course, check out our trunk show to pick up some sparkling jewerly for your wardrobe!

Almost time for Valentines Day...can you believe it? Happy & Sparkling 2008!

Wishing everyone a wonderful, joyous and blessed 2008! I hope that all of you dreams come true for you this year.

We got TONS of snow here in Michigan....the skiers are SO happy!! It is just beautiful after a snowfall. I was describing it to my mom who still lives in the south with the rest of my family that it honestly looked like something out of Currier & Ives....simply beautiful. Course it does after a while make you long for Florida with all of the beautiful beaches and sun......maybe a trip is in our near future!

Little Assistant #1 was out with her daddy on the snowplow eating a snowball almost as big as her all bundled up in her snowsuit, hat & mittens. Rosy cheeks and eyes just a sparkling from all of the fun she was having. She came into the house asking for hot chocolate for both her and her daddy. So cute!

On to Beach Haus.......We have so many new things planned for this year and one of the biggest is the launching of our new wholesale line the June Beach Signature Collection. Jewelry that sparkles like you! We are almost finished with the inital line and will be sending out the catalogs to our exsiting customers as well as our fabulous reps! I am so excited about the potential of this new line that I am just busting at the seems wanting to show you the pieces for at this time they are for store eyes only...........be patient I will give you a sneak peek very soon!

Our Beach Haus Designs line is up and running with new Valentines & Easter designs coming online as well as some fabulous ones that are offline as well. The stores & customers that have seen some of the new pieces have been thrilled with the results and some swear they are some of the best pieces they have seen. I will be posting a bunch shortly on the website and some here too.

So off to the studio to work, work, work so that I can keep my promises of all the goodies to come. My little assistants are following me as we speak and I can't wait to see what theycomes up with today. I am sure it will be as fabulous as she is!

How Time Flies

Can you believe New Years Eve and 2008 is now just days away.......we plan, think & make resolutions for the new year but then can't believe it is finally here once the big day arrives!

Hope everyone had a wonderful & safe Christmas Day with their loved ones.

We were really busy little elves in the studio with last minute beautiful custom necklaces, bracelets & earrings gifts for customers. A large order for an international store account was very exciting to work on! We were pleased that some really extra beautiful peices came out of the studio, so pretty we were wanting to keep them for ourselves, LOL! Don't worry, we didn't!

We are back at work in the studio on the new line that we should have ready shortly as well as lots of other new goodies that we are very excited about! We will share more shortly.

Promise not to take so long to post here next time.......one of my new resolutions for the new year!

It's beginning to like a lot like Christmas!

Well, the holiday season is offically here, can you believe it?

We just love Christmas around the Beach Haus Designs studio!

We have our official pink tree this year already up, decorated & sparkling with those twinkle lights that we love so much........christmas music playing, the smell of luscious candles and yummy cookies floating through the air. Nighttime brings viewings of the Polar Express with lots of hot, hot, hot chocolate and popcorn!
